ZH Sikder University of Science and Technology authorities on Sunday celebrated the Independence and National Day with festivity and enthusiasm. The university campus is decorated with colorful lights on the occasion of Independence Day.
A series of programmes were arranged on the occasion that included hoisting of the national flag, placing of wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and planting a tree on the university campus.
Independence Day celebrations started on the morning of March 26 with the hoisting of the national flag. After that, Professor Dr. Talukdar Lokman Hakim, Vice-Chancellor of the University, paid a rich tribute to Bangabandhu placing wreath at his portrait Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor said that “on March 26, 1971, the great architect of independence, the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, declared the independence of Bangladesh. We are enjoying the benefits of this freedom today. On this day, we pay our respects to the father of the nation.”
A special Iftar party was organised for the residential students of Mukfaruddin Sikder Hall and Manowara Sikder Hall of the University. Among others, treasurer Professor Abdul Khalek, Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Associate Professor of Department of Law Md Emran Parvez Khan, controller of examinations (Acting) Md. Mizanuzzaman, teachers of various department, students, officers and employees were also present.
