For the second consecutive day, no Covid-19-related death was reported in Rangpur division during the last 24 hours till Monday, as the Coronavirus situation continues to improve in the past few weeks.
“Earlier, Rangpur division witnessed Covid-19 fatality-free days on May 16 last and again no deaths was reported on September 12, 13, 14, 20, 22, 26, 29 and 30 and October 2," Rangpur Divisional Deputy Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam said.
The number of Covid-19 fatalities remained steady at 1,234 in the division.
The district-wise breakup of the 1,234 fatalities stands at 293 in Rangpur, 80 in Panchagarh, 88 in Nilphamari, 67 in Lalmonirhat, 68 in Kurigram, 250 in Thakurgaon, 325 in Dinajpur and 63 in Gaibandha of the division.
The average fatality rate currently stands at 2.24 percent in the division.
Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases reached 54,979 as eight new patients were diagnosed after testing 564 samples in Rangpur division at the daily positivity rate of 1.42 percent on Sunday.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were three percent on Saturday, 4.74 percent on Friday, 2.87 percent on Thursday. 2.26 percent on Wednesday, 2.30 percent on Tuesday and 2.84 percent on Monday last in the division, Dr Zakirul said.
The district-wise break up of total 54,979 patients include 12,401 of Rangpur, 3,764 of Panchagarh, 4,421 of Nilphamari, 2,731 of Lalmonirhat, 4,631 of Kurigram, 7,529 of Thakurgaon, 14,652 of Dinajpur and 4,850 of Gaibandha in the division.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said a total of 2,82,989 collected samples were tested till Sunday, and of them, 54,979 were found Covid-19 positive with an average positivity rate of 19.43 percent in the division.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the number of healed Covid-19 patients reached 52,169 with recovery of 84 more infected patients on Sunday in the division where the average recovery rate currently stands at 94.89 percent.
The 52,169 recovered patients include 10,942 of Rangpur, 3,570 Panchagarh, 4,314 Nilphamari, 2,612 Lalmonirhat, 4,511 Kurigram, 7,121 Thakurgaon, 14,313 in Dinajpur and 4,786 Gaibandha districts in the division.
Among the 54,979 patients, 81 are undergoing treatments at isolation units, including 13 critical patients at ICU beds and 10 at High Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 52,169 patients and 1,234 deaths while 1,495 are remaining in home isolation.
“Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine rose to 38,68,159, and among them, 17,13,403 got the second dose of the jab till Sunday in the division,” Dr Islam said.
Talking to BSS, Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said the Covid-19 situation continues to improve satisfactorily in Rangpur division.
“However, everyone should remain aware and abide by the health directives, wear masks and maintain physical distance to prevent spread of the deadly virus,” he said.
