The country’s present young generation would lead all the efforts aimed at realizing the government’s declaration of making Smart Bangladesh by 2041.

Hence, they need to be built up with knowledge of latest technology and their innovative power should be flourished.

The steps also include ensuring close coordination between three stakeholders, and research and development in the IT sector, and the industry’s branding at home and abroad, and creating skilled manpower in the sector.

The speakers remarked these while addressing a programme titled ‘Ministerial Conference’ on the second day of BASIS SoftExpo at Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center at Purbachal in the capital on Friday.

Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzaque attended it as the chief guest, while State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid Bipu and State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak as special guests. BASIS President Russell T. Ahmed chaired the session.

As part of BASIS Softexpo 2023, on the second day of the mega event, the Ministerial Conference was held at the fair venue on Friday.

Mainly a panel discussion was held at this programme where three ministers— Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzaque, State Minister for ICT division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, and State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid— attended as the panelists.

Prior to the panel discussion, which was moderated by BASIS President Russell T. Ahmed, Zunaid Ahmed Palak presented the keynote paper on the topic titled ‘From Digital Bangladesh towards Smart Bangladesh’ when he highlighted the country’s potentials and achievements in the country’s ICT sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Agriculture Minister Dr. AbdurRazzque said, "We talked about digital Bangladesh in 2008, but many people did not trust us at that time. Yet, we have made digital Bangladesh. The vision of smart Bangladesh will also be realized if we can ensure the proper utilization of our potential youths.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said, technology is currently moving very fast. BASIS is doing very well. We need to understand what is the smart Bangladesh. A farmer does not know, what is the smart Bangladesh. When he understands, he will become a smart citizen.
