Youth’s body found near his in-law’s house

Police have recovered the body of a young man on Friday morning who came to his in-law's house in Chakariya of Cox's Bazar to go to Chattogram for collecting his salary.

The body was recovered from Malumghat Ringvong New Mosque area of Dulahazara Union under Chakria Upazila on Friday morning, said Inspector of Chakria Police Station Md. Habibur Rahman.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Lokman, 32, son of Abdul Malek of Kalamarmar Para of Uttor Dhurung union in Kutubdia upazila. Although the OC informed about an injury on the left hand side of the chest of the body, he was not sure whether the injury was a bullet or knife wound.

Citing locals and relatives of the deceased, the OC said Mohammad Lokman worked as a laborer under a transport at Chittagong port. During the Fajr prayers on Monday morning, Lokman left the house of his father-in-law for Chattogram.

Later, some locals informed the police that a dead body was lying on the side of the road in the new mosque area. Police then recovered Lokman's body from the area, he added.

Rifa Akhter, the wife of the deceased said, in the morning, locals heard the sound of a gunfire shortly after Her husband departed from her father's house for Chattogram. He was later found dead on the side of the road.

Police are investigating who or why the man was killed and the body of the deceased was sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC said.
