A young man was killed and ten others were injured during a clash in the Nawrapara area of Rupganj, Narayanganj, on Thursday night. The deceased, Deen Islam, 23, was the son of Millat Hossain, a resident of Nawrapara village in Rupganj upazila.

Locals reported that a long-standing conflict between two groups led by Rafikul Islam and Mosharaf Hossain, primarily over land and local supremacy, escalated into violence.

Deen Islam’s father recounted that a gang supported by Rafik and his brother Mizan attacked their house around 7 p.m., armed with local weapons and wearing helmets. During the clash, Deen Islam was shot. Despite efforts to rescue him and take him to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

Police sources indicated that the conflict between the two groups is not new. Mosharaf Hossain, who had previously been forced to leave the village, returned recently to attend a funeral prayer, prompting renewed attempts by his opponents to attack him.

As of Saturday evening, no case had been filed, and no arrests had been made in connection with the incident, according to Officer in Charge of Rupganj police station, Dipok Kumar Shaha.
