Pabna RAB-12 camp members detained a young man with 400 pieces of Yaba tablets from Fateh Mohammadpur area under Ishwardi upazila of Pabna on Friday morning. The arrested youth was identified as Hashem Ali, 20, resident of Kuzipukur village under Lalpur police station of Natore. He was sent to jail by Pabna court on Saturday morning.
RAB sources said a team led by RAB-12 camp Commander Aminul Kabir Tafadar was stationed at Fateh Mohammadpur area upon receiving a secret news of illegal drugs being smuggled in the area. Hashem Ali tried to flee sensing the presence of RAB but they detained him. Later, 400 pieces of Yaba tablet was recovered by searching Hashem's body.
RAB sources also said that Hashem Ali is a prominent drug dealer. He has long been involved in narcotics trade in various areas of the country including his own area. Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Bahauddin Farooqi said Pabna court following a case filed against Hashem under Narcotics Control Act sent him to jail.
