Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh on Saturday arrested a youth with seven gold bars in Mollabarir Moar area of Jibannagar upazila in Chuadanga.
The arrestee is Jewel Hossain, 39, son of Abdul Khaleque, a resident of village Dakshinchandpur of Darshana in the district.
On information, a team of the BGB 58 conducted a drive in the area and arrested Jewel and recovered the gold bars worth Tk 64 lakh from his possession at about 8:00am, Chuadanga BGB 58 assistant director Mohammad Shaiful Islam said.
Jewel was handed over to Jibannagar police after filing a case against him with the police station, Shaiful said, adding that gold bars would be submitted to the treasury.
