Noakhali Detective Police (DB) arrested a young man named Sher Ali (32) after being in hiding for one year and seven months in a bid to embezzle one lakh twenty thousand taka and a mobile phone. The arrested person went into hiding and filed a missing and abduction case against his opponent 12 persons of a family.
He was arrested from in front of Marcha Bus Counter of Cox's Bazar Municipal Bus Terminal early on Monday morning. The arrested Sher Ali is the son of Samchuddin of Nalua village of Dhansindi union of Kabirhat upazila.
According to the police, Sher Ali, who was in hiding, got acquainted with Mubarak of Hatia Bazar area while driving CNG in Halishahar area of Chittagong. Last July 5, 2022, Mubarak went to Moulvibazar motorcycle showroom in Kaptai street of Chittagong to buy a motorcycle. At that time, a body of Mubarak's motorcycle was purchased for twenty thousand taka and a mobile phone was with Sher Ali. Mubarak left the money and mobile phone with Sher Ali and went home after knowing that an ID card photo would be required to purchase the motorcycle.
On this occasion, Sher Ali ran away from that place with money and mobile phone and went to Kabirhat village. Later, an arbitration meeting was held with the local people about this incident, but as the matter was not resolved, the accused Sher Ali was taken to the Chairman of Hatyar Harani Union on July 7. Sher Ali managed to escape from that area.
Later, he went into hiding and joined the family to file a missing and abduction case on 12th July 2022 in the court of his uncle Delwar Hossain.
In that case, a total of 9 people including Shashul Haque Majhi, who had a dispute over land with Mubarak, were made accused. Later, the case was handed over to District Detective Police for further investigation through Kabirhat Police Station.
Noakhali Detective Police (OC) Nazim Uddin Ahmed said, during the investigation, the location of Sher Ali, who was hiding using information technology, was found at different places including Cox's Bazar, Bandarban, Chittagong, Khagrachari, Comilla, Narayanganj, Dhaka, Gazipur, Munshiganj.
Finally, it was confirmed that he was in front of Marcha Bus Counter of Cox's Bazar Municipal Bus Terminal and he was arrested from that area. After being arrested, he admitted that he had been working as a Marcha bus driver for a long time. He has been sent to court.
