Youth hacked to death by drug peddlers in Rajshahi

A youth hacked to death near Harupara bridge of Char Majardiar by local drug peddler gang on Tuesday in Rajshahi.

The deceased was identified as Abu Sayed, 30, son of Amir Hossain Chowkidar of village Majardiar Madhyapara under Damkura police station there.

According to sources, Abu Sayed had been in a dispute with a local drug peddler gang over drug trading for a long time. 

On Tuesday night, Abu Sayed lifted his friend Mostafa on a motorbike to the village Harupara and was returning home alone on the bike.

When he reached near Harupara bridge, the drug peddler syndicate terrorists numbering 10 to 15 including Shahin son of Rajjak Ghose, Kabil son of Kamal Mollah and Shamsul stopped Sayed and opened gunfire on him when Sayed fell onto the ground from his motorbike.

They then hacked Abdu Sayed with sharp weapons injuring him fatally.

Later, locals informed the incident to family members of Sayed who rushed to the spot and took him to the Emergency of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where attending doctors declared him dead.

The dead body of Sayed has been sent to the morgue of RMCH for autopsy. Wife of the deceased Sayed has filed a case mentioning the names of some killers of her husband.

Mashiur Rahman, Officer-in-charge of Damkura police station informed, the incident of attack on Sayed was as a sequel to previous enmity.

Poice has already started a crackdown to nab the killers.
