Youth gets life in arms case

A court here on Thursday sentenced a young man to life-term imprisonment in an arms case. 

He was also awarded seven years’ extra punishment in another section of the  case. The convicted was Lokman, 35, son of late Humayun of Kansat Baganbari under  Shibganj upazila of the district. Chapainawabganj Senior Sessions Judge and also the judge of Special Tribunal- 1 Md.

 Adeeb Ali announced the verdict in presence of the convict. The prosecution story, in brief, is that, acting on a tip-off, an operation team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 conducted a raid at Shyampur Saratnagar village under Shyampur union of Shibganj upazila in the district on February 15, 2021 at night and arrested Lokman with a pistol, a revolver, a magazine and seven rounds of bullet. On February 16, 2021, next day of the drive, Sub-Inspector (SI) of the RAB-5 

Hafijur Rahman filed a case with Shibganj thana against Lokman.

Investigating Officer (IO) of the case SI Md. Nurunnabi submitted charge sheet against him to the court on February 28, 2021.

After hearing the witnesses, the court sentenced him to life-term imprisonment under section 19(A) and seven years in jail under section 19(F), the court sources said.
