After coming home with his new wife, groom Omar Ali (25) was found with his throat cut early in the Tuesday morning.
The villagers saw his bloodied body with his throat cut from the pepper field near his house in Taherpur village of Kalapara's Latachapali union. This incident has cast a shadow of mourning in the area
On receiving the information, a team of Mahipur police station went to the spot around nine in the morning and recovered his body. A blood-stained native dog was found next to the body.
Deceased Omar Ali is the son of Shahjahan Farazi of Taherpur village.
The police and the family members of the deceased said that Ruqaiya (18), daughter of Shah Alam of Tazepara village, got married to Omar Ali on Sunday.
After the wedding ceremony on Monday, Ruqaiya was brought to Omar Ali's house along with her family members. Omar left the house in the early morning to pray. Later, around seven in the morning, locals found his strangled body in the pepper field.
Omar Ali's father Shahjahan Faraji said that he went to the mosque after seeing my son and wife on the bank of the pond at dawn. Coming back after the jamaat, he saw the son's body lying in the pepper field. No one can say who killed him and why.
Mohipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Anwar Hossain Talukder said that a indigenous gun was recovered from the scene. Whether he was killed or committed suicide is under investigation. Evidence is being collected from the scene. The police have started investigating the matter.
