A youth was allegedly beaten to death and another was critically in injured centering upcoming Union Parishad polls in Dhamrai, at Amchimur village under Jadabpur union of Dhaka's Dhamrai upazila, on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Shihan, 20, son of late Abdul Mojid, hailed from the area, and the injured was Alomgir Hossain, 30, from the same area, he was now undergoing treatment at National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR).
Confirming the matter, Atiqul Islam, OC, Dhamrai police station said, "We are investigating into the matter, and multiple police team working to nab the involved". The OC, however, claimed that the murder was took place centering previous enmity.

Kutub Uddin, a local resident of the village told The Bangladesh Post, "As far as we know, the incident happened following election feud, and political grouping.
Meanwhile, higher officials of law enforcement agencies including SP of Dhaka zila police, visited the scene Monday morning, and said, they are investigating the matter.
On other hand, locals said, police on Monday morning detained a youth namely Ridoy, from the village, but he later escaped from police van, besides police also recovered a mobile phone from the scene.
Nirmal Kumar Dash, Inspector (Intelligence) said preparing file a case in this regard was in underway.
