Police arrested a youth from Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah on Wednesday for his alleged comments about Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The arrestee was identified as Sujat Hossain Mollah, 20, son of Ayub Ali Mollah of Baraipara village under Shailkupa upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shailkupa Police Station Jahangir Alam confirmed the matter. He said that they arrested Sujat Hossain Mollah when he had posted a status on his Face book titled “Sahrin Sujat” treating Sheikh Kamal as the first bank robber of the independent country.
Juba League’s Shailkupa upazila unit president Shamim Hossain Mollah, who is also a former upazila parishad vice chairman, filed a case against Sujat Hossain Mollah under Digital Security Act on August 6.
The post was made from a Facebook account on the occasion of Sheikh Kamal’s birth anniversary, according to the case statement.
