The elder brother was killed by the younger brother over land dispute in Ramu Upazila of Cox's Bazar.
The younger brother escaped, but his wife was arrested by the police.
Ramu police station sub-inspector (SI) Himel Roy said that the incident took place in Kambania area of Khuniapalong union of Ramu upazila at 9 am on Friday.
The deceased Ayub Ali (25) is the son of deceased Bashir Ahmad of the area.
The younger brother of the deceased Yashin is a veterinarian by profession.
He has been absconding since the incident.
Himel Roy said that on Friday morning, the police were informed by calling 999 that the younger brother had been killed over to a land dispute in Kambania area of Khuniapalang Union of Ramu Upazila.
Those involved in the incident fled before the police reached the spot. Later, the younger brother involved in the incident Yashin escaped but his wife was arrested by the police.
Khuniapalong UP ward number 5 member Md. Abdullah Vidyut said, elder brother Ayub Ali had a land dispute with his younger brother for a long time.
The land property was owned by the mother. His (Ayub Ali) mother along with his younger brother filed a case against the deceased Ayub Ali.
It is believed that this incident happened due to this incident.
SI Himel Roy said that initially the police received information that the murder was due to a land dispute.
Police operation is on to identify and arrest those involved in the incident.
He said that the bodies of the deceased were recovered and sent to Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
