Young Tigers win over Japan in U-19 Asia Cup

Bangladesh U-19 cricket team won over Japan by nine wickets in the ICC Under-19 Youth Asia Cup.

Held at the ICC Academy Ground-2 Stadium, Dubai on Monday, Bangladesh won their second successive match following their first win over United Arab Amirates (UAE).   

Bangladesh won the toss and sent Japan into bat and bundled the the minnows for 99 runs by 47.1 overs. 

Replying to a moderate target, the young Tigers scored 100 runs in 11.2 overs losing one wicket. 

Ashiqur Rahman Shibli and JishanAlam paved the way of easy win for Bangladesh scoring 71 runs in the opening stands from 7.5 over. The openers, who were very attacking right from their opening overs, scored 50 runs in just 4.5 overs. Right hand batter Jishan managed 29 runs from 16 deliveries with four boundaries and one six before being bowled by slow left arm orthodox bowler Charles Hinze. The bowlers of the newcomers Japan in cricket, could claim one wicket of Bangladesh.

Wicketkeeper-cum right hand batter Ashiqur Rahman Shibli was unbeaten when the opener scored 55 from 45 balls with clubbing eight boundaries. Ashiqurwas awarded man of the match.  Shibli and Rizwan scored 29 runs in the second wicket partnership. Rizwan was unbeaten with 10 from seven balls with one four. 

Earlier, Japan, after being sent to bat first could manage 99 runs from 47.1 over. Japanese batters who lost wickets at regular intervals, finally were all out just one run shor to of 100 runs in 47.1 overs. 

Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby and Ariful Islam were the two top wicket takers for Bangladesh with claiming two wickets each conceding 9 and 15 runs respectively.

One down batter Nihar Parmer was the top scorer for Japan with 18 runs from 80 deliveries. The right hand batter hit two fours during his stay long time at the crease. Lower order batter Kiefer Lake scored 17 and Kazuma Kato 13 were the top scorer. Rest of the eight batters could not reach to the double digit. 

All the bowlers of Young Tigers got wickets with their tight bowling. 

Emon, Mridha, Borson, Jibon and Rizwan took one wicket each at the cost of 18,10, 8, 24 and 14 runs respectively. 

Meanwhile,  Bangladesh Under-19 team made their campaign in the Youth Asia Cup beating United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 61 runs on  Sunay.

Bangladesh team, whowere drawn in Group B, will play their third match against Sri Lanka.
