In order to build and prepare a team ahead of 2022 Youth World Cup, players training camp has started at BKSP in Savar on Monday. 45 young cricketers are taking part in this camp.
The 45 cricketers called to the camp were subjected to the Covid-19 test in three phases. In the second round, all-rounder Iftekhar Hossain became positive. However, during the second test, Iftekhar got a negative result. For the time being, he will be examined once more in a week under the supervision of BCB. If he is negative in the third test, he will also join the camp.
On the opening day of the camp at BKSP on Monday, young cricketer Rihad Khan said they were hoping to rectify the mistakes during the camp. ‘It’s a good thing to practice together. The mistakes that have been made so far can be corrected.’
Nawrose Nabil, the batsman in the squad of the World Cup winning youth team, is also in the camp this time. Nawrose, who is trying to make it to the second Youth World Cup squad in a row, said he was relieved to have the opportunity to practice in such a situation. First of all, thanks to the BCB for organizing such a camp. Even if we wanted to (practice) it was not possible in the midst of this pandemic. Now with everyone, we can train again. '
‘We were getting a bit rusty, while staying at home. Now it has started again. Hopefully, we will get better gradually.’
Former cricketer Mehrab Hossain Opi, who is the batting coach at the camp, said they will start skill training in the net after five days of fitness training. Young cricketers will be tested there.
This intensive camp will continue in BKSP till September 18.
