It has been alleged that a youth named Morsalin (32) was strangled to death following a dispute over drug deal in Akhaura. On Sunday evening, the police recovered his body from a house in Shivnagar village of Maniond union in the upazila.
The deceased Morsalin is the son of Noor Mohammad of Minarkot village of that union. There are four drug cases against him. After the incident, the killer Abdullah fled.
According to police and locals, Morsalin and Mangal Mia's son Abdullah of Shivnagar village are both drug dealers. Abdullah invited Morsalin to his house on Saturday night. He never returned home after that. The family did not find him despite a lot of searching. At one point, Abdullah's residence was locked and the family became suspicious.
At this time, he looked out of the window and found Morsalin lying on the floor. Being informed the police broke the lock of the residence and recovered the body.
Akhaura Police Station OC (Investigation) Shafiqul Islam said that both Abdullah and Morsalin are drug dealers.
There are 16 drug cases against Abdullah and four against Morsalin. It is believed that Abdullah killed Morsalin and locked himself in the house. The police operation is continuing to arrest him. The body has been sent to the district headquarter hospital morgue for post-mortem.
