The Bangladesh U-20s have kicked off their training camp with a laser-like focus on clinching the SAFF Championship title in Kathmandu next month. Having tasted defeat in three previous finals, the young Tigers are hungry to make amends and return home as continental champions.
Drawn in Group A alongside Pakistan, Nepal, and S--ri Lanka, the path to glory won't be straightforward. However, forward Asadul Mollah is refusing to be intimidated by the opposition. "We're not getting carried away by who we're up against," he declared. "Every team here will be tough, or they wouldn't be here. Our aim is to play our best football and we believe we can achieve something special."
Echoing his teammate's sentiments, experienced campaigner Miraj expressed unwavering confidence in the squad's ability to lift the trophy. "We've got a fantastic team and a top-class coach," he said. "We've worked incredibly hard in training and we're convinced we can go all the way if we perform to our potential."
Miraj, who is in contention for the captain's armband, heaped praise on manager Maruf for creating a positive and supportive environment within the camp. "The gaffer really understands what the players are going through and is always there to help us," he added. "He's a great coach and we're determined to deliver for him."
With the squad set to be trimmed down to 23 players from the initial 32-man camp, competition for places is fierce. The countdown to kick-off is on.
