State-owned West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited (WZPDCL) has decided to observe Mujib Barsho, the birth centenary of Father of the Nation, as service year.
WZPDCL managing director Engineer Mohammad Shafique Uddin said this while talking to this correspondent at his office in the capital recently.
‘Our main target is to provide improved and quality service to the consumers to mark the ‘Mujib Barsho’. Besides, we will ensure 100 percent electricity coverage in our distribution area,’ he said.
‘Bearing in mind the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for ensuing electricity to all households, we are working to provide power to remote areas,’ he added.
“We will observe the Mujib Barsho as service year. To this end, various initiatives have already been taken. However, 24 service centres or customer care centres will be set up in different areas, where customers will get round-the-clock service,” WZPDCL managing director said.
“We have taken an initiative to resolve any type of customer harassment. Consumers will get new electricity connection within a day and in a very easy way. Besides, any type of customer’s allegation will be settled in a very short time,” he added.
Shafique Uddin further said another target of WZPDCL is to create skilled manpower through training which will ultimately enrich the country. To this end, training programme has already been started, through which skilled manpower is being created in the rural areas. The unemployed youths are being benefited through the programme and people are also getting skilled electricians, he added.
“Our other targets are enforcing 'zero tolerance' policy against corruption and introducing 'paperless office' to build 'Digital Bangladesh,” he continued.
