Focal Person of the Flu Corner of Khulna Medical College Hospital Dr Shailendranath Bishwas erroneously sent four patients from the Flu Corner of the hospital to the Medicine ward thinking them not to be infected with Coronavirus but the day after their admission there, PCR laboratory report mentioned those four patients carrying Coronavirus.
As a result, more than 100 patients and their attendants, doctors and Nurses of Medicine ward are now facing the risk of being infected with the Coronavirus.
Already more than 10 doctors, nurses and health workers of the ward went under quarantine and the authorities of KMCH at a meeting held on June-3, have relieved Dr Shailendranath
Biswas from the responsibility of Focal Person of the Flu Corner of the hospital for such irrespon sible step.
KMCH sources informed, at the last week of April, PCR laboratory test report found a person's test report of Coronavirus positive but there having no correct address of the person with the register book of the hospital, the local administration found it difficult to detect the person but at last, the infected person, a rickshaw puller by profession, was seen to reside at Moheswarpasha under Doulatpur upazila. Later, he was treated and recovered from the disease Corona.
It is alleged, authorities at the Flu Corner of the hospital often erroneously and hastily register the names, addresses and mobile numbers of the patients. Moreover, there are allegations that many on-duty doctors issue a Negative Coronavirus Report to some persons without even watching them.
On Sunday last three patients of the same family were released from the Flu Corner. They were issued a Corona Negative release letter on May-29. After being relieved from the Flu Ward, they were admitted to Medicine ward of the hospital. Next day, they went away from the Medicine ward. Later on, the Corona test report of those three patients was found positive. The address of those three infected patients was mentioned as at Sheikhpara under Khulna city but Sonadanga Model than police failed to detect their presence in the area.
However, on Monday morning ( June-1), those three patients themselves arrived at Flu Corner of the hospital again when they were admitted to the Coronavirus treatment centre at the Diabetic Hospital in Khulna. It is alleged, those three patients had concealed their actual address and mentioned a fake address at Sheikhpara.
It is learnt, earlier on May-17, a Mobile Court punished an Outsourcing staff of Flu Corner of KMCH Ariful Islam for issuing Corona Infection Free certificates to some patients in exchange of kickback. It is alleged, Ariful Islam handed over 'Corona Free' certificates to each patient in exchange of Taka 50 only.
It was mentioned in the certificate, " The patient is now well, contact again if affected with fever, cough and cold". The certificate was also properly signed and sealed off by the concerned on-duty doctor of the hospital.
Montazul Haque, officer in charge of Sonadanga Model thana informed, concealing of addresses of patients at the hospital can cause problem and such case happened for three of those patients.
Dr.Munshi Md Reza Sekander, Director of KMCH informed, Dr. Sailendranath Biswas was relieved of the charge of Focal Person of Flu Corner of the hospital for various reasons. Dr. Mijanur Rahman has been given the charge of the Focal Person of the Flu Corner following the removal of Dr. Shailen dranath Biswas.
