The World Milk Day-2024 was observed in the district on Saturday in a befitting manner.
In 2001, World Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of United Nations announced June 1 as World Milk Day. World Milk Day is celebrated to recognise the importance of milk as a global food and to celebrate the dairy sector.
This year, World Milk Day was celebrated with the theme of focusing on celebrating the vital role dairy plays in delivering quality nutrition to nourish the world.
Marking the day, a colorful rally was brought out from in front of the deputy commissioner office which paraded the important streets and ended coming in the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC) office this morning.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Saifuddin Gias addressed the function as the chief guest with district livestock officer Dr Md. Abu Bakar Siddique in the chair.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Naria Circle) Md. Ahsan Habib, Executive Magistrate Md. Asif Haider, Sadar Upazila Female Vice-Chairman Samina Yasmin, freedom fighters, upazila livestock officers, among others, spoke.
The speakers said everyone to take effective steps to develop the dairy industry to reduce the nutritional deficiency of the human body. If it is possible to increase the milk production, the nutritional needs will be met and the farmers will benefit economically.

The World Milk Day-2024 was observed in the district on Saturday as elsewhere in the country with a call to raising awareness about the significance of the dairy industry in our daily lives, reports BSS.
This year's theme of the day was "Dairy's role in nutrition and global health".
Marking the day, the district administration and Livestock department jointly chalked out the elaborate programmes.
In the morning, a post rally discussion meeting on the significance of the day was held at the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC) here with district livestock officer(DLO) Dr Md Mahfuzar Rahman in the chair.
ADC(General) Dewan Moudud Ahmed addressed the function as the chief guest.
Additional police super Abdullah AL-Mamun, district raining officer of the department Dr. Md. Rahmatunnabi, deputy director of District Artificial Insemination Center Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam Akand and president of district dairy farm association Protap Ghosh addressed the function, among others.
Dewan Moudud said there is no substitute for milk in building a healthy nation to build a smart Bangladesh by 2041, envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
A large number of district level officials, invited guests, journalists of print and electronic media attended the programme.
