The sales of jersey and flags begin in Bangladesh once every four years when the football World Cup is around the corner. However, the demand for jerseys and flags is higher than usual, said different shopkeepers in Dhaka.
Abid Hossain, a shopkeeper of Rampura area in the capital, said that the sale of jerseys and flags is very hot this time.
Jaber, who works at Joy Sports at the Gulistan Shopping Complex in the capital, echoed the same, saying that the demand is so high that it is difficult for suppliers.
Some other shopkeepers said that customers are showing a greater interest in the jerseys of other nations participating in the World Cup.
On the occasion of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, many building are decorated with flag colours of Argentina and Brazil. Some crazy people paint their houses with the colors of their favorite team’s flag.
A four-storey building in Sylhet city has been painted with the colour of Brazil’s flag. Mizanur Rahman of Mirboxtula area in Sylhet city, who is a football fan of Brazil team, painted the building in the colour of the Brazilian flag. Argentine flag colour also seen in many areas like Brazil.
Alongside the paining of buildings and buying jerseys and flags of Argentina and Brazil, now the heat is on in bars, tea stalls and local haat-bazaars over which team will win the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The football fever grips Bangladesh from the capital city of Dhaka to remote areas. People arrange watch along with friends, relatives and families. The person who never watches football or knows anything about it also gets affected by the football storm during the FIFA World Cup.
Fuad Hasan Muhsin, a resident of Brahmmangarm village under Kanaigaht upazila in Sylhet, said that although is not affected by football, he is a Brazil fan. He speaks about his favorite team every day.
