World AIDS day was observed in Jhenidah aiming raising more awareness among the people as the havoc was spreading in Bangladesh alarmingly. Organized by district health office in Jhenidah, a colourful rally paraded the main rods in the district town chanting slogans to take responsibility united in the globe. Later a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the civil surgeon with civil surgeon Dr. Salina Begum in the chair.
Additional deputy commissioner Arif Uz Zaman attended the discussion as chief guest, while additional superintendent of police Anwar Sayeed, Jhenidah Sadar hospital superintendent Dr. Harun Or Rashid, medicine specialist Dr. Jakir Hossain, upazila health and family planning officer (UHFPO) Dr. Shamim Kabir, acting resident medical officer Dr. Limon Parvez and senior health education officer Abdur Rahman among others present as special guests.
Medical officer Dr. Talat Tasnim facilitated the discussion. The speakers said the people in the globe, especially, Bangladesh are more or less aware on present global havoc corona virus. But most of the people of our country are not so much aware on the deadly HIV AIDs.
The health department activists, voluntary organization activists and civil society organization should play united role to combat the AIDS as it was a silent killer.
