Regional workshop on annual research progress and proposal finalization of Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI) was held at Cox's Bazar on Sunday.
The workshop was held at the meeting room of the Maritime Center in the morning.
Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute Director General Dr. Md. Zulfikar Ali was the chief guest at the workshop. Mohammad Abdus Sattar, Director of Marine Fisheries Department, Chittagong, Dr. Sheikh Aftab Uddin, Director of Marine Science Research Institute of Chittagong University, and Nurul Absar, Chairman of Cox's Bazar Sadar Upazila Parishad, were present as special guests.
Speakers at the workshop said it is possible to achieve the blue economy through the proper use and conservation of marine resources. In the future, the huge amount of water in the sea and the various types of resources on its bottom should be used more and steps should be taken to identify the necessary issues to ensure the blue economy.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Chief Scientific Officer of Cox's Bazar Marine Fisheries and Technology Center, presided over this regional workshop.
Dr. Durin Akhtar, Chief Scientific Officer, Raihan Hossain and Mahidul Islam, Senior Scientific Officers respectively, performed the duties of the technical phase of the workshop.
