Work is underway to re-activate mobile and landphone networks in flood-prone areas. BTCL subscribers are requested to contact BTCL Call Center 16402 with their idle landline activated or any related need.
In the ongoing flood situation, 2,122 out of 3,617 sites of Grameenphone, Robi, Banglalink and Teletalk in Sunamganj, Sylhet, Netrokona, Habiganj and Maulvi Bazar have been damaged. In the meantime, it has been possible to reactivate 1,146 sites. Work is underway to activate the remaining 908 sites. Earlier, Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited was working on establishing 12 VISATs through the Army and Bangladesh Satellite Company under its own management to establish telecommunication connection including internet through Bangabandhu Satellite-1.
Bangladesh Army has completed the establishment of 3 Hubs in Sylhet Hi-Tech Park, Sunamganj Deputy Commissioner's Office and Sunamganj Circuit House. The work of setting up Visvat Hub at Govindganj, Doara Bazar, Dirai and Goain Ghat will be completed on Tuesday. BSCL has set up 3 Visvat Hubs in Sylhet Divisional Commissioner's Office, Sylhet Deputy Commissioner's Office and Sylhet Sadar Upazila Office. Besides, Sylhet Divisional Commissioner's Bungalow, Sunamganj Sadar Upazila, Deputy Commissioner's Bungalow, Dakshin Surma Upazila and Jamalganj Upazila will be connected on Monday.
BSCL has provided Visvat Hub equipment to Netrokona Deputy Commissioner's Office. The work of providing Visvat Hub connection to Netrokona Deputy Commissioner's Office and Khaliajuri Upazila Office will be completed on Monday. Visvat equipment has also been provided to the Bangladesh Army.
