Bangladesh national women cricket team scheduled to leave Dhaka for UAE today to play the sixth ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup to kick off from October 3.
The Tigresses are going to UAE with every players dreaming to do well in this edition of the tournament when their previous record is not at all impressive, as they could not win any match since 2014.
So, if this time they could win any match, against any opponents would be an occasions of celebration, as in the last 10 years in four World Cup they participated could not taste even a win.
Therefore, this time the cricketers eyeing to get rid of their bad
reputations when the skipper Nigar Sultana Joty, before their departure the country expressed her expectation to make a winning start “We are looking forward to start with winning the first match. Apart from a win in 2014, we have not a single victory in rest of any edition of Women’s World Cup.”
Joty, who gave importance to a winning start, also said that every team want to play semifinal, but for that they would have to win the group matches.”
“We will get the rhythm, if we could win the first match and then we could set our next target. If we want to bring our cricket ahead, winning in the World Cup is the best flat-form.
It will not be easy going for Bangladesh women, although Scotland, a weaker opponents in the opening match but England, West Indies and South Africa, the powerhouses of the world cricket are in the group.
Rabeya Khan, Nahida Akhtar and Sultana Khatun are the three dependable members in the team. Good memories are the motivation of Bangladesh in this match.
Joty also beliees that if they would execute their plans, will have good result. “If we would focus on our duty and could execute our match plan, it will be good for us.”
However, the scale of confidence of Bangladesh team coach Hasan Tilekaratne is much higher than Nigar, when the Sri the Lankan said, “I am very confident, this team have the ability to play in the semi-final.”
