Bangladesh national women’s team squashed Singapore by 8-0 in the second and final FIFA friendly match between both sides at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur on Monday.

Bangladesh also won the first friendly match 3-0 in the same venue. However, Monday’s emphatic victory was something really special from the women in red and green.

Star forward of the first match Tahura Khatun, scored a brace again. Alongside Tahura, Ritu Porna Chakma scored braces, while Sanjida Akter, Sabina Khatun, Sumaya Matsushima, and Shasunnahar Jr scored one goal each.

Bangladesh took a 3-0 lead in the first-half, courtesy of Tahura's double (16th and 24th minutes) and one in the 18th minute from Ritu. The floodgates opened after that as the home side thumped five in the second 45.

The 20-year old striker looked very lively from the start and rattled the post in the third minute after Sabina’s initial effort was blocked.

The deadlock was finally broken just after the quarter hour mark when Tahura pushed home from close range, gliding Masura Parvin’s headed pass into the net.

Rituporna was not at her best initially but got better as the match progressed as she doubled the lead with a tap-in from a yard away following a goalmouth scramble after Sabina’s corner.

Tahura tripled the advantage in the 24th minute, placing home on a rebound after Rituporna’s strike was blocked by the goalkeeper.

Rupna Chakma along with the defence had very little to do mostly but the keeper from Rangamati made a decent save in the 14th minute.

After the half time, Sanjida showcased her skills through the right flank to split Singapore defence on a few occasions but could not get the goal until the 57th minute.

Soon after her perfect finishing was disallowed for offside, Sanjida found the net on a rebound after Tahura was deprived by the netminder while converting Rituporna’s low cross.

Riruporna grabbed her second of the day in emphatic fashion, as she smashed into the top corner from the left side after dribbling past her marker at the edge of the 18-yard box.

Sabina hit the back of the net with a side footed shot following a low cross from Shamsunnahar Jr who came off the bench a minute earlier along with Sumaya as both made immediate impact.

Rising star Sumaya bagged the seventh goal with a thumping right-footed volley before the other super sub Shamsunnahar Jr completed the rout in stoppage time.
