Women booters gear up for int’l matches

Bangladesh women's national football team hasn't played an international match since December.

Despite their efforts, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) women's wing hasn't been able to schedule any games since their victories over Singapore (3-0 and 8-0).

Several countries that initially expressed interest in playing Bangladesh have backed out. This extended break has impacted key players like Sabina and Shamsunnahar.

After a long hiatus, the wait for international competition is finally over! The Chinese Taipei women's football team will be visiting Dhaka for a two-match series against Bangladesh in May and June.

Mahfuza Akhter Kiron, Chair person of the BFF's Women's Football Wing Committee, confirmed the dates on Tuesday. The two matches against Chinese Taipei will be played on May 31st and June 3rd at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka.

Due to the expected hot weather, both matches may be played under floodlights. This is currently the only venue available for hosting international women's football matches in Bangladesh.

The SAFF Women's Championship is happening later this year, and the BFF is eager to arrange a friendly match as part of their title defense strategy. However, securing an opponent has proven difficult. The federation recently had to cancel a planned tour to Myanmar due to a lack of government approval.
