Woman ‘commits’ suicide at Nabinagar

Mother of two children Mahmuda Begum, 42, of Badda (Madhya Para) village under Salmiganj union of Nabinagar upazila in Brahmanbaria committed suicide by hanging herself on Wednesday early morning.

Mahmuda Bagem is the wife of Akhter Hossain, a Dubai expatriate of Badda village. Mahmuda Bagem has two children, both are expatriates. Elder son Masood lives in Bahrain and younger son Mahbub is a Saudi expatriate.

According to local sources, Mahmuda Begum was living alone in the house as her husband and two children were expatriates. Like every day, she went to sleep. In the morning, when she did not wake up, the neighbours found her hanging to the ceiling fan breaking the door.

Upon receiving the news, Salmiganj police camp In-Charge SI Mamun sent the body to district morgue for autopsy.

Nabinagar Police Officer-in-Charge Ranojit Roy, after confirming the truth of the incident, said that the body has been recovered and sent for autopsy, and an Unnatural Death (UD) case has been filed.
