Withdrawal of case against Manab Zamin Editor demanded

A human chain organised by Rajshahi Press Club was held at the Zero Point of Shaheb Bazaar on Saturday morning in protest against the filing of false, fabricated case against the Editor-in-Chief of the daily Manab Zamin Matiur Rahman Chowdhruy   and its reporter Al Amin, demanding whereabouts of missing Photo-Journalist Shafiqul Islam Kajol and picking up of journalist Ariful islam Regan from his house in Kurigram by the members of law enforcement agency. 

Dozens of journalists under the banner ' No Torture on Journalists, stop it' attended the human chain. The journalist leaders demanded immediate intervention of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to withdraw such harassing, false cases mentioning that as a sequel of publishing news on malicious activities of Papiya, the Editor of Manab Zamin and its journalists are being harassed by implicating them in false, fabricated cases.

  Presided over by Saidur Rahman, President of Rajshahi Press Club, the Human Chain was conducted by Aslam -ud-Dowla, General Secretary of the press club and was addressed, among others, by columnist Prasanta Kumar Saha, Freedom fighter Shahjahan Ali Borjahan, Vice President of Public leader Ataur Rahman Memorial Association Salah uddin Mintu and journalist Rashed Ripon. 

Speakers at the human chain programme mentioned, it was regretful that whenever journalists were working and writing and publishing sincere, authentic reports; false and fabricated cases are being filed against them. They said, for speaking the truth, journalists are being harassed now a days. The journalist leaders vehemently condemned the filing of false, fabricated cases against Manab Zamin Editor and demanded immediate withdrawal of the same. 

They also demanded intervention of the Prime Minister to withdraw the case mentioning that a strong role of mass media was necessary for reaching the successful initiatives and programmes  and the anti-corruption campaigns  of the government to the people, otherwise, they added, malicious Papiyas would continue to thrive.
