The results of the 12th parliamentary elections were officially declared by the Election Commission (EC) on Monday, showing Bangladesh Awami League’s win in 222 constituencies out of 298.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal declared the poll results at a press conference held at Election Building at Agargaon in the capital.
He said the election was held in a free, fair and peacefully across the country excepting some stray incidents and the voter turnout was 41.8 percent.
The results of the election in 298 constituencies have been declared as the voting in two seats has been postponed due to the death of a candidate in Naogaon-2 and allegation of irregularities against another contestant in Mymensingh-3.
