Munshiganj Union of Journalists (MUJ) has provided a widow with a sewing machine at the temporary office of MUJ in Khaleast area on Wednesday.
Beneficiary Rani Akhter (34) is a resident of Mirapara area of Munshiganj Sadar Upazila. Her husband died 4 years back leaving behind a 4-year-old daughter. The daughter is currently studying in class II. She is supporting the family by doing work as a domestic help. She is also paying her daughter's school expenses. Munshiganj Journalist Union President Kazi Biplab Hasan, Vice President Md Awlad Hossain Khan (Shibli), General Secretary Md. Robel and Office Secretary Md Masud Khan were present at this time.
During the short discussion, the speakers said, Munshiganj Journalists Union wants to stand by such poor and poor people in the future. Even if it is not a big event, our small efforts will continue. Munshiganj Journalist Union wants to participate in social activities besides gathering and presenting news.
Rani Akhtar expressed her gratitude saying, “I am grateful to those who gave me this sewing machine today.
Because I know sewing. Through this machine I can earn some money by doing my own work and other people's work.
It will also be possible to maintain the cost of the girl's education with my income. Also thanks to them for giving me machine for doing work instead of giving me cash. I might have spent the cash. But after getting the machine, I can work and maintain my family with the income.”
