Despite the government vision of building the country as Smart Bangladesh by 2041, the Dhaka University authority has yet to digitise the admission process.
As a result, students have to suffer a lot because the admission process is a bit lengthy.
They have to stand in a queue for hours for paying hall and department fees and submitting all related documents in person just within a day.
During visit to the campus on Monday, this correspondent found that the queue of the students started from the registrar’s building and ended on the premises of VC’s residence.
While talking about this issue, a student who came to get admitted to the university said, “We suffer a lot as the admission process is very lengthy. Just to pay hall and department fees, students have to wait in a long queue in front of the registrar building.”
Another admission seeker said, “I have been standing in the line since the morning. This line is getting bigger and I don’t know when we will be able to complete the admission process.”
A student named Raihan Rudro posted in Facebook, “You said smart campus and I heard about DU. The admission process is so fast and smooth that it will be completed before you drinking water.”
Despite frequent attempts over phone, DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal could not be reached for his comments in this regard.
