WCCU recovers over 100 wild animals

The Wildlife Crime Control Unit (WCCU) of the Forest Department has seized over hundred different species of wild animals from Tongi in Gazipur.

On secret information, the WCCU carried out raids on the godowns of syndicate operators involved in wildlife trade in Tongi on Sunday (November 17). Nargis Sultana Liza, wildlife inspector at WCCU; confirmed the news to The Bangladesh Post on Monday. 

She said that a team of WCCU from Dhaka raided various godowns in Tongi and seized over hundred of different species of wild animals. The wildlife 

include-- Rose-ringed parakeet 04, Red-breasted parakeet 12, Alexandrine parakeet 34, Bank Myna 52, Spotted dove 20, Indian Silverbill 15

The seized wildlife were released into the forest later, said Nargis Sultana Liza. 

Catching, selling and carrying of wildlife are strictly prohibited as per the Wildlife (Conservation and Security) Act.
