Wazi Uddin buried with state honour

Wazi Uddin Khan, former president of Pabna district unit of Awami League and former MP from Pabna-3 constituency was buried with state honour at Arifpur graveyard in Pabna on Saturday after holding second namaz-e-janaza on the premises of Police Lines at about 2:00 pm.

Former state minister for home Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, MP from Pabna-3 constituency Md Mokbul Hossain, general secretary of district Awami League Golam Faruk Prince, MP, chairman of Pabna Zila Parishad Rezaul Karim Lal and Police Super Sheikh Rafiqul Islam took  part in the namaz-e-janaza, among others. 

Wazi Uddin Khan, who is also an eminent labour leader and freedom fighter, passed away on Friday morning at his residence in Atua Housepara area in Pabna town. He was 84.

He was born on February 20 in 1936 at Bhajpara village under Dapunia union of Pabna Sadar upazila. His role in the corn movement, mass uprising and the Liberation War was unique. He was elected general secretary of the Pabna District Motor Workers Union in the year 1972. He was elected president of the Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation in the year of 1980 and had been serving in that post till date.
