Veteran student leader and Awami League nominated candidate for Panchagarh-1 Md Naimuzzaman Bhuiyan Mukta vowed to work the development for Panchagarh if elected to the parliament.
“Panchagarh, a biodiverse land blessed by the Himalayas, witnessed less development work than other district of the country” he said at an election campaign meeting at Bolorampur High School on Wednesday (20 December).
Panchagarh district Awami League vice-president Naimuzzaman Bhuiyan Mukta will contest in the upcoming 12th parliamentary polls schedule to be held on January 7.
“Panchagarh as a district with immense potential for multifaceted industrial development has not yet developed any heavy industries. Tea cultivation started in Panchagarh in 2001 with the initiative of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, but now the farmers are not getting their fair share of tea leaves. Besides, the only heavy industrial sugar mill in Panchagarh district has been closed” Naimuzzaman Mukta said.
He stressed the necessary to establish a medical college in Panchagarh.
The veteran student leader and prominent journalist sought vote for Boat to complete the incomplete development works of Panchagarh.
Naimuzzaman Mukta also urged people to cast their vote freely and vote for Boat to continue the development trend of the country.

chaired the campaign meeting while Panchagarh district Awami League acting general secretary Sarwar Hossain Bokul, Joint-secretary Adv Sarwar Hossain, Panchagarh municipality mayor Jakiya Khatun, Adv Anisur Rahman, Atwari upazila parishad chairman Towhidul Islam, Atwari upazila Awami League general secretary Emdadul Haque, among others spoke there.
Panchagarh-1 constituency consists of Panchagarh Sadar, Atwari and Tentulia Upazila.
Apart from active politics, Naimuzzaman Mukta is also working as the Joint Editor of Bangladesh Post, an English daily owned by Sikder Group, one of the country's top industrial conglomerate.
A brilliant former student leader Naiuzzaman Mukta is known as an expert in Access to Information (A2I) project and is very close to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
As an independent director of the country's first private bank, National Bank, Naimuzzaman Mukta is leaving a mark of his talent in the banking sector.
His parents are, father - Abdul Khalek Bhuiyan and mother - Nurjahan Bhuiyan.
Naimuzzaman Mukta's wife, Kazi Mousumee, is active in Awami League politics after retiring as a senior officer from Bangladesh Army. She was also an executive committee member of Retired Armed Forces Officers Welfare Association Club (RAOWA Club).
Meanwhile, leaders, activists and supporters and Awami League leaders took out a huge cheery procession from the local party office immediately after the announcement of the party nomination in favour of Naimuzzaman Mukta on November 26.
The jubilant supporters distributed sweets after announcement of the nomination news. Similar cheerful procession was held in Tentulia and Atwari upazilas where thousands of people came out to celebrate Naimuzzaman Mukta’s nomination. A large number of Naimuzzaman Mukta's supporters and local Awami League leaders and activists were present in these cheery processions. Members of public also joined the processions while greeting Naimuzzaman Mukta with various slogans.
