Only a day is left for the Dhaka Metro Rail to run. The first section of the metro rail will be inaugurated day after tomorrow. People will be able to travel from Diabari to Agargaon from the next day. Massive preparation is underway ahead of its launching.
The present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has fulfilled almost every development aspect that it promised to the people. And now the city dwellers are going to enter the metro era.
However, travellers can travel from Diabarito Agargaon station from December 29 as this section of Metrorail is fully prepared.
According to Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), the initial plan is to run trains for a maximum of four hours a day. A maximum of 200 passengers will travel by the train a day. First MRT Six will provide direct service from Uttara to Agargaon.
On the occasion of the inauguration of the metro rail on December 28, some last minute work is continuing. The facelift work is going on across the road below the metro rail atRokeyaSarani, Mirpur. People are eagerly waiting to avoid the traffic jam and board the train to reach their destination.
In the second phase, the work of the metro rail from Agargaon to Motijheel will be completed in 2024, said the project officials.
Each train of Metrorail has six coaches. Each of them has seating arrangement for 54 people. In total, 306 people can sit in a train. Passengers will travel standing in the wide space in the middle. In total, 2308 passengers at the maximum can travel at one go.
Each train will dash at a maximum speed of 100 km per hour. However, the authorities will decide how fast the train will run at any place. The train is being designed and manufactured by Japan’s Kawasaki-Mitsubishi Consortium.
