Vow to build developed country

National Insurance Day observed across the country

The National Insurance Day was observed across the country on Sunday (March 1) for the first time. The day was observed with the theme “Bima diboshe shopoth kori, unnoto desh gori (We take oath on the insurance day, to build a developed country).”

Marking the day, Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority of Bangladesh (IDRA), Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA) and Bangladesh Insurance Forum chalked out a wide-range of daylong programmes including holding rallies, insurance fairs and discussion meetings across the country. Our Correspondent sent news items on the issue. 

In Khulna, the district administration organised a discussion at Shaheed Hadis Park in the city in association with IDRA, BIA and Bangladesh Insurance Forum (BIF), reports our Khulna Correspondent. 

Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque attended the discussion as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-general) of Khulna Ziaur Rahman in the chair.   

Earlier, a colourful rally was brought out from Shaheed Hadis Park. The rally ended at the same place after parading different roads in the city. Officials of local government bodies, civil society members, employees of different Insurance Company participated in the rally.

In Bogura, the was celebrated in the district on the initiative of district administration on Sunday like to whole country, reports our Bogura Correspondent. On the occasion, the district administration brought out a colourful rally in the morning that paraded the town. Following the rally a discussion meeting was held at Shathmatha area of the town. 

Bogura Deputy Commissioner Fayez Ahmed was the chief guest of the event while Meghna Life Insurance Company Limited’s Regional Coordinator Shaheen Qadir chaird it. 

Joint Director of Bangladesh Bank Saider Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ujjal Kumar, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Azizur Rahman spoke at the discussion meeting as special guests.

In Kishoreganj, marking the Kishoreganj District Administration arranged discussion and rally in the district town, reports our Kishoregani Correspondent. 

The discussion meeting held on District Art Council hall room.  Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Abdullab-al-Mashud presided over the meeting. Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarwar Murshed Chowhdury was attended as chief guest. Kishoreganj Govt. Gurudayal College Accounting Deparment Professor Md. Abdul Hamid was attend as special guest.

It was addressed among others by Distirct Awami League President Advocate Kamrul Ahsan Shajahan, Continantal Insurance Manage Anisur Rahman, Jibon Bima Corporation Acting Assistant Manage Md. Sarowar Hossain, Swadesh Life Insurance Manager S.M. Sohahil and Delta Life Insurance Manage Abdul Awal spoke on the occasion.

In Rangpur, speakers at a discussion urged insurance companies to earn public confidence through reaching services and huge benefits of insurance utilising modern information communication technology, reports BSS. 

They made the call at the post-rally discussion organised by the offices of the Deputy Commissioner and Jiban Bima Corporation (JBC) at Town Hall in the city in celebration of the first National Insurance Day. The Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Insurance Association and Bangladesh Insurance Forum extended assistance to celebrate the day through various colourful programmes.

The programmes included bringing out of a huge colourful rally, arranging the discussion and an Insurance Fair on Public Library ground with 36 stalls set up by different insurance companies.

Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan inaugurated the celebration by releasing balloon and festoon before leading the rally with participation of officials, civil society members and employees of 40 insurance companies.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner attended the discussion as the chief guest with General Manager of the Postal Life Insurance for Western Circle, Rangpur Md. Shamsul Alam in the chair.
