Volunteer rescued from Rohingya camp

A volunteer of Cyclone Preparedness Programme (CPP) was rescued hours after being abducted from a Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar. Members of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) rescued the volunteer from a hilly area inside the Shafiullah Kata Rohingya Camp at Ukhiya upazila early on Thursday.

The volunteer is Mohammd Hosain, 36, son of Mohammad Kashem of College Para area of Teknaf. He was working at the camp when he was abducted on Wednesday evening by a group of Rohingya miscreants.

APBn members arrested Md Taher, 32, head boatman of the camp, in this connection. Cox's Bazar 16 APBn Commander SP Md Hemayer Rahman confirmed the matter. 

He said that an APBn team conducted a drive in the area to rescue the volunteer.

At 12:30am, they located Md Hosain but the kidnappers managed to escape. Later on Thursday, Taher was arrested on charge of being involved with the abduction.
