In a groundbreaking move, The Ministry of Education has announced that students who have passed SSC (Vocational) and Dakhil (Vocational) exams under the Technical Education Board can now apply for admission to mainstream colleges. This change is part of the new Class XI admission policy set to begin on May 26.
Previously, vocational students faced limited options for higher education. The new policy, outlined in Section 2.3.6 of the admission guidelines, allows these students to apply for any group within the General Education Board. This integration aims to provide equal opportunities for all students, regardless of their educational background.
The admission process will be conducted online through the official website www.xiclassadmission.gov.bd. Students have to apply online, listing between five and ten colleges in their preferences. The application fee is Tk 150. Admission decisions will be based on a student's SSC results, merit, quota (if applicable), and preferences. The application period will continue until June 11.
Except for a few institutions like Notre Dame College in Dhaka, there will be no selection tests for Class XI admissions. All placements will be based on academic performance and preferences.
This year, 20,13,597 students appeared for the SSC exams across 11 education boards, with 16,72,153 students passing. With approximately 25,00,000 seats available for Class XI admissions nationwide, vocational students now have a broader range of opportunities for continuing their education. This policy change marks a significant step towards inclusive education in Bangladesh.
