The National Vitamin 'A' Plus Campaign will be held from 5 to 19 June to get rid of various diseases and increase the immunity of children.
At this time 4 lakh 60 thousand 455 children in Cox's Bazar district will be given one 'blue' and 'red' colored vitamin 'A' plus capsules. The campaign will run every day from 8 am to 4 pm following full hygiene rules. A total of 206 health assistants will work in a total of 1951 immunization centers in 62 unions of a municipality and district.
Besides, there will be 183 Family Welfare Assistants, 5408 volunteers and 218 caretakers.
This information has been given by calling a 'Journalist Awareness Meeting' on the occasion of the National Vitamin 'A' Plus Campaign.
Civil Surgeon Dr Mahbubur Rahman delivered the welcome address at a meeting held at the conference room of the District EPI Store on Thursday (June 3) morning.
"If you see any hygiene violation during the campaign, let me know directly instead of negative news," he said. There is no scope for propaganda about vaccines.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahbubur Rahman said, "We are in the top spot in the Kovit-19 report all over the country." I don't know if it is good luck or bad luck. This is uncomfortable for us. Be aware of the situation without being afraid.
He said that at one time many people would die of night blindness due to lack of vitamin 'A'. Now the news of death cannot be heard at night. Vitamin ‘A’ protects the baby’s night blindness, increases immunity and reduces the risk of the baby dying. The Civil Surgeon said that efforts will be made to bring all the children under the Vitamin A capsule.
According to him, it is possible to reduce the infant mortality rate by up to 23 percent by filling the vitamin A deficiency.
District Health Supervisor Sirajul Islam Sabuj provided information through multimedia presentation at the press briefing.
According to the health department, there are 71,130 children aged 6-11 months and 4,19,325 children aged 12-59 months in Cox's Bazar district. Any child between the ages of 5 to 59 months can take vitamin A capsules without being seriously ill. Doctors recommend feeding capsules to children.
