A poor housewife of a remote village has set up an example and proved her true love and sacrifice by donating her kidney to her ailing husband. The housewife of Harninakundu upazila in Jhenaidah donated a kidney for her beloved husband. Now they are undergoing treatment at a kidney hospital in Dhaka.
Family sources said Rashedul Islam, 25, son of Abdul Malek of Harishpur village in Harinakundu upazila was suffering from kidney related illness. He has been serving in Ansar and village defense party (VDP) in the same upazila.
As Rashedul Islam fallen sick, the family members saw him in a kidney hospital in Khulna. The physicians after examining Rashedul had suggested transplanting a kidney when both of the kidneys were not working.
The under privileged family members were disheartened thinking the treatment of the young man. At last, Rashedul’s wife Setu Khatun had desired to donate one of her kidney for her ailing husband. The physicians witnessed the matching of the kidney of Setu Khatun and conducted the success surgery at CKD Hospital at Shaymoli in Dhaka on November 12.
Setu Khatun over cell phone said that they love each other very much. Further, their family was not capable enough to manage huge money for kidney transplant any way. They have also a two-year old boy child.
Considering the matter, she had donated one of her kidneys desiring to live or die together. She was lucky enough to do something for her beloved husband. Now both are almost well in health and mind, Setu Khatun said.
Setu Khatun, daughter of Habibur Rahman of Hatibhanga village in Kushtia Sadar upazila, was married to Rashedul Islam, son of Abdul Malek at Harishpur village of Harinakundu upazila in Jhenidah about three years back. They have a two-year boy child.
