A view-exchange on prevention of child marriage was organized in Chitalmari with heroic freedom fighters, imams, priests, journalists, people's representatives and well-wishers.
The meeting was held on October 6 at the Upazila Parishad auditorium. The meeting was held to raise awareness among the mass people about child marriage, take legal action and provide advices.
Chitalmari Upazila Parishad Chairman Ashok Kumar Baral, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Liton Ali, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Jannatul Afroz Swarna, Police Inspector Md. Ikram Hossain, Upazila Awami League President Md. Babul Hossain Khan, General Secretary Piyush Kanti Roy, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Mofizur Rahman, Upazila Youth Development Officer and Upazila Women's Affairs Officer spoke at the opinion exchange meeting organized by the Upazila Administration.
In his speech, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Liton Ali said that the administration is always ready to prevent any incident of child marriage. He also instructed all concerned to discuss the evils and strict laws of child marriage in every class of educational institutions. He further said that educational institutions have been asked to discuss the dire consequences, disadvantages and stringent laws of child marriage in each class. She prioritizes creating awareness among parents of the students about child marriage.
He said that besides the concerned authorities, educational institutions could also play an important role in preventing child marriage. He added that he or his administration is always on high alert about child marriage.
