A Dhaka court Monday placed the driver and helper of a Victor Paribahan bus that crashed Nadia, student of Northern University, to death on January 22, on two-day remand in the case lodged over the incident.
The two remanded accused are- driver Md Liton and helper Md Abul Khayer.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Noor passed the order as police produced the two accused before the court and pleaded to place them on seven-day remand in the case.
Police arrested the duo from Badda Anandanagar area this morning as they were about to leave the area to go into hiding in their home district Bhola.
Nadia, a first-semester student of the Department of Pharmacy of Northern University, was riding on her friend's bike as a pillion. The reckless bus hit their bike near Jamuna Future Park around 12:45pm on January 22, throwing Nadia on the road and crushing her to death. Though police managed to seize the bus after the accident, the driver and helper had managed to escape.
Nadia's father filed the case with Vatara Police Station in this connection.
