Leaders of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) on Tuesday said a vested quarter is making evil efforts to create unrest in the garments industry during the current interim government’s tenure.
The BGMEA leaders came up with the remarks during a meeting with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
A high level delegation of BGMEA led by its President Rafiqul Islam held the meeting at BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan political office in the capital.
But BNP’s leaders and workers of all levels including local ones extending support immediately to them in all places, the BGMEA leaders said adding the BNP men are safeguarding in some places too.
BNP’s local leaders informed the BGMEA leaders that they have come forward to protect the garments industry as per the decision of the party at the directive of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Mirza Fakhrul assured the businessmen of talking to home secretary for taking necessary measures to intensify security of garments industry.
Addressing BGMEA leaders, the BNP Secretary General urged all to come forward to boost the country’s economy and restore the political and democratic rights of the people.
