The verification of landless families has started in Brahmanbaria’s Nabinagar Upazila.
As part of the government rehabilitation progamme for the landless and homeless families the area Nabinagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer UNO Ekramul Siddique visited Shibpur and Bitghar unions on Wednesday.
During the visit, he inspected the land in and checked whether the list of beneficiaries has been prepared.
Ekramul spoke to the landless and homeless families to implement the directives of the Prime Minister and inquired about their vari ous issues.
Nabinagar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Iqbal Hasan, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Abu Bakkar Siddique, Shibpur Union Parishad Chairman Mohammad Shaheen Sarkar, Bitghar Union Parishad Chairman Abul Hossain, eminent social worker Kabir Hossain and other officials and employees of the upazila administration were also present during the visit.
It is learned that the government has already listed the landless and homeless across the country.
On the occasion of Mujib Borsho, a two-room house (with kitchen, attached toilet and utility space) will be constructed at a cost of Tk 1.71 lakhs for all the landless and homeless families of the country.
Some 1 lakh homeless families will get 'disaster-tolerant houses' as a gift from the Prime Minister.
