The prices of beef, chicken, cucumber, eggplant and onion have come down in the kitchen market. Prices of other products have seemingly remained unchanged.
Broiler chicken is being sold at Tk 155-165 per kg and Sonali chicken is available at Tk 280-290 per kg. Seven days ago it was sold at Tk 300 per kg.
Market vendors say that even though the price of vegetables has gone up and down now. Prices will not go up much. The price of other products is likely to go up after Ramadan 20.
Such situation was observed on Friday morning after visiting some kitchen markets of the capital.
With the month of Ramadan looming, the prices of vegetables have gone up in the market. Prices of vegetables have started to fall in the market.
Cucumbers are being sold at Tk 70-80 per kg in these markets. Even seven days ago, cucumbers were sold for Tk 120 to 100 per kg. Eggplant is being sold at Tk 70-80 per kg. Even seven days ago, eggplant was sold at Tk 80-100. Tomatoes are being sold at Tk 40-50, beans at Tk 50, cauliflower at Tk 50 per piece, cabbage at Tk 70, carrots at Tk 40-50 per kg, pumpkin at Tk 40 per piece, sweet pumpkin at Tk 70 per piece, radish at Tk 40, turnip at Tk 40 and papaya is being sold at Tk 40 per kg.

Md Amin, a vegetable seller in Bazar No 11, said that the prices of vegetables have come down. The supply of vegetables in the market is good. Some prices may go up after 15 to 20 Ramadan.
In the kitchen markets, green chillies are being sold at Tk 90-100 per kg. Last week, green chillies were sold at Tk 100-120 per kg.
Green banana (four pieces) is being sold at Tk 40, Papaya at Tk 40 per kg and Lemon (four pieces) is being sold at Tk 30-40.
Potatoes are being sold at earlier prices in all these markets at Tk 20 per kg. The price of onion has come down. Local onions are being sold at Tk 25 to 35 per kg. It was sold seven days ago at Tk 35-40.
Chinese garlic is being sold at Tk 100-120 per kg in the market while local garlic at Tk 50 per kg. Local ginger is being sold at Tk 80 per kg while Chinese ginger at a reduced price of Tk 80-100 per kg.
A litre of edible oil is being sold in these markets at Tk 170. A two-kg bottled edible oil is being sold at Tk 340. Sugar prices have risen again in the market. Sugar is being sold at Tk 80-84 per kg. Besides, a packet of sugar wighing one kg is being sold at Tk 85-90.
Eggs are being sold at previous prices. A dozen of red eggs is being sold for Tk 100-105. One dozen of duck eggs is being sold for Tk 160-180 while one dozen of local chicken eggs is being sold for Tk 200.
Ahmed Ashiq, an egg seller said that the price of eggs did not increase due to low demand. In Ramadan people eat less eggs. That is why prices have come down.
The price of beef has come down in the market. Beef is being sold at Tk 650-680 per kg. Seven days ago beef was sold for Tk 680-700 per kg. Goat meat is being sold at Tk 900.
