Professor Mohammed Enamullah (PhD), Vice Chancellor, of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University (HSTU), condemned ragging during the orientation programme for new students on Monday.
He declared, “Ragging has no place in HSTU. We will eradicate it from this university, and anyone involved will face strict investigation and penalties according to university laws.”
Addressing students at the university auditorium, the VC emphasised the importance of a free and respectful environment. He paid tribute to the martyrs of the anti-dictatorship movement, reminding students of the sacrifices made for merit-based opportunities.
The orientation programme included all departmental chairpersons and featured recitations from the Holy Quran and the Gita. New students were warmly welcomed with flowers, and faculty members provided detailed introductions to their departments and academic matters.
Two students from each faculty shared their thoughts on the experience. Freshmen received welcome folders containing university information, a branded pen, class schedules, and an academic calendar. The event marked a hopeful start to the 2024 academic year at HSTU.
