Ekushey Medal winning sarod artist Ustad Shahadat Hossain Khan has died. He was 62 years old. He died at a private hospital in Uttara at 8:30 pm on Saturday (November 28). Actor Mamunur Rashid confirmed the news to the media. It is known that he was infected with coronavirus.
With his demise, he left behind his wife, two daughters and numerous students and fans. Shahadat Hossain Khan was born in 1958 in one of the music families of the subcontinent. His ancestral home is in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria.
He is the grandson of Ustad Ayet Ali Khan, younger brother of world-renowned musician and music emperor Ustad Alauddin Khan. His father Ustad Abed Hossain Khan was a renowned classical musician and sitar player.
Artiste Shahadat Hossain Khan was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 1994 for his outstanding contribution to music. His twin daughters Afsana Khan is a sitar player and Rukhsana Khan is a sarod player.
