The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka has opened applications for the 2025-2026 Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program. This program offers Bangladeshi secondary school students aged 15 to 17 a chance to study for one year in the United States. The application deadline is Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. (BST).
The YES program, funded by the U.S. government, provides scholarships for students to study at an American high school, live with a host family, and act as youth ambassadors for Bangladesh. Participants will attend a local U.S. high school, where they can join extracurricular activities like robotics, debate, and art clubs. They will also develop leadership skills and take part in community service projects.
To be eligible, applicants must be Bangladeshi citizens, enrolled in a local high school in grades 8 to 11, and have an average grade of 50% or higher. They must also provide transcripts for 2022, 2023, and 2024 and meet U.S. visa requirements. Students who have spent more than 90 days in the U.S. in the last five years or hold dual citizenship are not eligible.
